Portrait of Play, Week 39

We didn’t spend nearly as much time down at the farm this summer as I had wished. While exploring outside, I realized how much has changed. The baby goats have grown to almost full size already, and there is a new dog named Nora. The creek has dried up, and the climbing tree was struck by lightening. After dinner we all took a trip out to the barn to help James install some new lights, and the girls wound up getting some time to ride the animals. Charlotte has watched her cousin take riding lessons for the last year, and so she knew some of the things to do and say. She was all too excited to scream, “Walk on,” to Oreo and BB as she kicked them in gear. As you can tell, she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The nights are getting darker quicker these days, so we hurried to make our way back inside for the promise of ice cream.
