Portrait of Play 2017, Week 42

It’s that time of year again, when the earth tilts just enough so the sun shines so perfectly into our little window in the attic. I noticed it first, but then Chuck noticed it a couple days later. She ran up the stairs following the path of light to the bed, where she knew a single jump would send dust stars into the air. She practiced all her old tricks and introduced a few new ones. The blankets and pillows were arranged into landscapes and seascapes and I heard her jabbering a whole narrative about the scene. I find myself more and more wishing to get a glimpse inside the world in which Chuck lives. Winnie watched Chuck perform jumps with zero interest in trying it out for herself. Roland seemed a little concerned. I just sat there noticing how much bigger Chuck’s body looks in the window compared to this time last year.
