James has been dreaming about building a zip line for a long time now, and one night he just decided to string one up in our yard. I don’t really know if the plan is to build a permanent one in the yard, but everyone (probably mostly James) had a blast playing on this temporary one. Chuck especially loves climbing and swinging and taking risks, and I think it’s pretty clear from the expression on her face that she was having a good time. There’s a hammock frame in our yard now too, and a couple new games have emerged from it. There’s the one where someone holds down one end, so Chuck swings up in the air on the other end and then slides down the pole. The other one is where the frame is a much simpler balance beam. Winnie liked giving it all a try too, and Roland was content feeling the cool breeze and looking up at the sky. James’ mom was hanging out with us, and it was really nice to enjoy some time in the backyard before the mosquitoes completely take over.
