We got ready for the day at 7 pm. The weekend was full of summer celebrations resulting in disrupted schedules, and since the day was empty of any obligations, we claimed it as a recovery day. The only reason for the girls to have gotten out of their jammies at all was to be able to sleep in them again that night free of dirt, sand, and bugspray. We went outside, and I followed Winnie around as she methodically took sand out of the play sink and watched it sift through her fingers to the ground. After climbing around the playhouse for a bit, I noticed Chuck had disappeared. As I suspected, she was in the shop with James who was working on a chair for his sister. The girls love hanging out in the shop with its endless curiosities and dangers. Charlotte got out some odds and ends and started tinkering. Winnie was having a blast putzing around and putting her hands in all the little compartments filled with organized screws until she started putting them in her mouth and I decided we had procrastinated bed time long enough.
